Borus Redrum

Description:

Borus is one of the six mighty Zexen Knights, along with Chris, Percival, Salome, Roland, and Leo. Of the six knights, Borus is an incredibly talented swordsman and comes from a noble background. He loses control of his emotions during the attack on the Karayan village, and as a result, ends up killing innocent civilians.

Aesthetics:

Borus looks like a blonde, handsome knight from Zexen. I think all of the Zexen knights look pretty cool in terms of character design, and there isn't anything wrong at all with how Borus looks. I don't like how his official art shows his head cocked to the side, but that doesn't really detract from his overall image. A-

Personality:

A lot of people tend to hate Borus for what he did to the Karayan people, but they also fail to recognize that just because he has a temper, that doesn't make him a mass-murderer. It just makes him more susceptible to the spell that Sarah cast on the knights, which was the real reason he went on a rampage. Throughout the game, Borus was bothered by his actions and felt remorse. He doesn't admit this to Aila when the two meet, but that's more because he's too ashamed to admit what he did. Borus also is very obvious about the fact that he has a huge crush on Chris. The other knights also seem to have a thing for her, except maybe Roland, but Borus is the one who makes the most noise about it. It kinda' hinders his game I tend to think, but at least you know where the guy stands. He's obviously stubborn, and he's vocal and hot-headed. This doesn't make him a bad guy, though. B

Usefulness in Battle:

Borus is freakin' crazy. I think he has a higher strength stat than Chris does at LV 99, and he's one of the four knights that you can boost up to LV 99. He's a force to be reckoned with, and if you pair him with Chris, there's not an enemy that the two can't beat. Unfortunately, Borus is worse at magic than Chris is, so the best he can do is use that stupid "sword of rage" rune, that isn't really worth a damn. Too bad I really don't give a crap about magic. Borus simply pwnz. A+

Usefulness in War Battle:

Borus is awesome in battle. Almost as good as Chris, but he tends to take more damage. Again, if he's with Chris, the two can't be beaten. A+

Overall:

Borus is pretty damn cool, but I'm going to have an issue with any character that fawns that much over Chris. He's hot-headed, and stubborn, but those really aren't terrible qualities for a knight. He's devoted to his captain, but not just to her, but to his cause as a knight, and he does feel remorse for the bad deeds he's done. I forgive the guy, but he needs to back off of Chris. Unfortunately for Borus, however, he does suffer from the "stupid name" syndrome. Borus is a cool name, but what the hell is with that last name of his...? Redrum. Ok, little second-graders know that "redrum" is "murder" spelled backwards, and I'm pretty damn sure the developers knew that too. I don't get that. Still, I won't let that stupidity affect his score. Borus is a pretty damn cool character. B+
