| Take a deep breath and enjoy the fresh air. This induction isn't anywhere near as long as the last one
because it's so simple, it really doesn't warrant a drawn-out rant, but well... What the hell, I might as well do my
best anyway, right? This induction is simple and falls under the "game glitches" category. In fact, this may be the single-most notorious glitch in all of Suikoden period, and I don't mean just the first game, either. True, this does come from Suikoden I, just like our first induction, but this is so bad, I don't think anybody in their right mind can come up with a sane or competent argument against it's induction. For those who aren't familiar with Suikoden's battle-system, most battles are "party battles," similar to what you have in games like Final Fantasy. In Suikoden, you have 6 characters in a party battle. Three of them are in front, and three are in back. It's up to the player to set formation how they like, arranging which three are in front, and which three are in the back. It's not until Suikoden V, when we can finally choose different formations, instead of just 3 in front, 3 in back, like a rectangle... Suikoden I & II both utilize the same formation type, which results in three different types of attackers. Short-range, Medium-Range, and Long-Range. Every playable character falls into that category, "S", "M", or "L." "M" or "L" characters can attack from the back row, but "S" characters cannot attack unless they are in the front row. I think you know where we're going with this. Both Lepant and Kuromimi are "S-Ranged" fighters, meaning that they must be in the front row, in order to attack an enemy. No biggie, right? Well, of course it isn't, but this becomes a serious hindrance when they're forced into your party just before a battle... Into the back row. This means that they cannot attack and just sit there. The stupid thing about this glitch is that you don't get to re-arrange your formation to accommodate them right before the battle, you're forced to fight right away and they are ALWAYS forced into your back-row. This might not be so bad, if it were say Luc or Crowley who are both "S-ranged" fighters, but both Luc and Crowley are powerful magicians. I don't think either Lepant OR Kuromimi are capable of using magic in Suikoden I, but they certainly aren't at the time they are they're forced into your party. It may not be so bad if them joining your party was an option, but it's not, and you have to accept them... In the back row. Absolutely ridiculous, there's no excuse for this bug to have not been fixed. Of course, one could argue that it goes with the charm of Suikoden I, which had a few glitches and translation errors, but seriously. This is just stupid.
